Our meals are prepared by our in house cook. We provide a healthy and varied menu each week and like to try out new recipes. As part of our Healthy Setting Award we had our menus looked at by a nutritionist who helped us plan meals which include all the necessary food groups. We get through lots of fresh fruit and vegetables each week and do keep processed food to a minimum. We can cater for any diet required e.g. vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free etc.
We offer a lower sugar cereal such as weetabix, rice krispies, ready brek, porridge or toast with fruit, milk or fruit juice
Mid morning and mid afternoon we offer milk or water with a choice of snack such as toast, cheese and crackers, plain biscuit, fresh fruit or raisins.
Favourites are Roast chicken dinner, spaghetti bolognese, cheese and potato pie with baked beans, curry and rice, tomato and pepper pasta and fish pie with vegetables. We try lots of different foods and believe in everything in moderation, so we do offer a good quality sausage on the menu now and then because the children just love them. Puddings we like are rice pudding with fruit puree, bananas and custard, home made fruit sponge and custard and the occasional jelly and ice cream (although we have to throw a bit of fruit in there too to get our 5 a day!)
We have a variety of things for tea – Sandwich selection with different breads, vegetable sticks, houmous, tsatziki, falafels, breadsticks, fruit, yoghurts, homemade scones, cookies or cakes.
Hot teas can be jacket potato with cheese, beans on toast, cheese on toast, crumpets, toasted teacakes with banana, home made soups
Babies don’t miss out – we provide formula milk and Vicky will cook whatever you require during your baby’s weaning process from pureed vegetables to chopped or pureed portions of our regular meals.
